Safer sex is defined as sexual activity engaged in by people who have taken precautions to protect themselves against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as AIDS. It is also referred to as safe sex, or protected sex, while unsafe sex or unprotected sex is sexual activity engaged in without precautions to protect against sexually transmitted infections. Safer sex practices became more prominent in the late 1980s as a result of the AIDS epidemic. Promoting safer sex is now one of the aims of sex education. From the viewpoint of society, safer sex can be regarded as a harm reduction strategy aimed at reducing risks.
Avoiding physical contact
Masturbation, the simple act of stimulating one’s own genitalia, is safe so long as contact is not made with other people’s bodily fluids. Some activities, such as “phone sex” and “cybersex”, that allow for partners to engage in sexual activity without being in the same room, eliminating the risks involved with exchanging bodily fluids. It is also called computer sex, Internet sex and colloquially cybering is a virtual sex encounter in which two or more persons connected remotely via network who send each other sexually explicit messages describing a sexual experience.

A condom is a protective agent made up of latex/rubber with a lubricant which can reduce the possibilities of pregnancy and of spreading an STD infection during sexual intercourse. Condoms are to be rolled up on a man’s erect penis. The condom blocks the semen to enter the vagina eliminating the chances of conception. Condoms made out of natural latex are much in demand these days. These condoms provide 98% effective in preventing pregnancy and protection against STDs thus contribute in safer sex.
